Vittoriale degli Italiani

Home of famous author Gabriele d’Annunzio

Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera, not far from our hotel at Lake Garda, was home to the famous Italian author Gabriele d’Annunzio and is still an attraction for than 300,000 visitors every year.

The building comprises a superb villa, a wonderful park, an impressive open-air theatre and a mausoleum to the famous author. One particular curiosity is the old warship in the middle of the park, which reveals his eccentric creative spirit.

As well as these buildings and sights, an original Steinway grand piano which belonged to the famous composer Liszt awaits too, as well as a wonderful historic library and a war museum.

Vittoriale degli Italiani – an exceptional home to artists

The impressive museum complex looks back upon a long and eventful history. To the end, the building has been constantly developed and more and more curiosities have enhanced the exhibition.

Among them is a SVA 10 aircraft, on which Annunzio himself flew to Vienna in 1918, an original torpedo boat and the war cruiser ‘Puglia’, a gift from the navy, which was delivered on 20 railway waggons. These days Vittoriale degli Italiani is not just for fans of Gabriele d’Annunzio’s literature, it is a must-see highlight and a visitor magnet in Gardena Riviera.
